Are masks required at events?
Face masks are strongly recommended but optional inside university buildings for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, except when alone in a private office or single-occupant cubicle.
What is Longhorn Welcome?
Longhorn Welcome is the official welcome for all incoming students, taking place from August 20-28, 2021. This program is comprised of approximately 12 Signature Events, which are create for all students to attend. There are also dozens of Campus events, which students can choose to attend based on their interests and unique experiences.
Are Longhorn Welcome events held in-person?
Longhorn Welcome Events will primarily be held in-person. However, we will continue to offer virtual opportunities for all students to enjoy.
Who is Longhorn Welcome open to?
We are welcoming all new students to the UT Campus! Events and programs are prepared to host all students coming to campus for the first time.
What is in place for Class of ’24?
Class ’24 students are welcome to attend any Longhorn Welcome event. Select events will also offer special activities and give-away items for the Class of ’24.
How is Longhorn Welcome accommodating students in light of Covid-19?
Longhorn Welcome is following the Guidelines set by the Protect Texas Together initiative, in order to keep all new Longhorns safe.
Students who may be exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 should not attend any in-person Longhorn Welcome Event. Proactive Community Testing will be available during the week of Longhorn Welcome.
If a student becomes diagnosed with COVID-19 within 10 days of attending an event, we ask that students cooperate with contract tracing efforts. Attendees who are members of the UT community can report their positive test via the self-report form.
Daily symptom screening will help keep the campus community safer. Please use the university’s Protect Texas Together app before going to class. If you don’t have a smartphone, a phone-based application is also available.
