Gone to Texas

Description: Don’t miss Gone to Texas, the official welcome to UT Austin hosted by President Hartzell on Wednesday, August 24. Held on the Main Mall in front of the Tower, this tradition ushers in the newest members of Longhorn Nation with a ceremony rich in tradition, Longhorn spirit, and of course, fireworks. Don’t miss this milestone event specifically for new students!

UT for Me Longhorn Welcome Event

Description: All UT for Me students in all cohorts are invited to stop by this come-and-go event to visit the dedicated student space in our office, pick up a FREE UT for Me T-shirt and other merch, and meet fellow UT for Me students and staff. Breakfast tacos will be available at the event on a first-come, first-served basis!

CoLA Resource Fair

Description: Join the Office of Sustainability and other key sustainable organizations around campus to learn more about how you can make a difference at UT.

Description: Join your First-Gen Family for free Amy's Ice Cream, first-come-first-serve! We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus, we'll have a few free giveaways as well!

From Tourist to Texan

Description: Out-of-state students are welcome to make Austin their official home away from home! Decorate your very own Texas tote, connect with other out-of-state Longhorns and celebrate your hometown with us while enjoying some Austin classics.

Back to School Bash

Description: Join Campus Events + Entertainment in celebrating the new school year with our annual Back to School Bash. This year‚Äôs back to school celebration is back and ready to welcome students to campus with free food, activities, games, live music, and so much more! Come out and celebrate a new year at UT!

Getting Involved with Research

Description: This session will introduce you to undergraduate research opportunities. No matter what you study, be it art, aerospace engineering or accounting, there are numerous benefits to getting involved in research as a student.

Education Abroad Open House

Description: Visit Education Abroad at our office on 2400 Nueces to find out what it takes to plan a study abroad experience! Learn about program types, costs, and funding opportunities (including scholarships!) and take a tour of our offices where you'll be able to set advising appointments with EA Staff!

Gone to Fine Arts

Description: Gone to Fine Arts 2022 will return to the Doty Fine Arts Building West Lawn and the newly renovated Kendra Scott Center. Food, music, activities, and free swag will be available to all! Additionally, various Fine Arts-related organizations and programs will be tabling to help students learn about the terrific opportunities available to them during their first year in the College of Fine Arts. Afterwards, you can join your peers to be loud and proud as a College as we walk together to the University’s Gone to Texas event at the Tower.

Gone to Nursing: Back to the 80's!

Description: The School of Nursing welcomes incoming undergraduate and graduate students to its 80‚Äôs themed event! Come meet your peers, chat with current student leaders, Campus partners and School of Nursing faculty and staff. Enjoy some pizza, claim your official School of Nursing T-Shirt and collect some treats and prizes. Feeling inspired? Let's shake it up! Wear your big hair, sport some leg warmers, muscle shirts, bright-colored nails or worn-in jeans. Come celebrate the beginning of the school year in a casual and fun way!

Description: Welcome Back to the Forty Acres! Come visit with some CoLA student organizations, grab a bite to eat, and learn about our support services.

Gone to Architecture

Description: The School of Architecture welcomes and welcomes back the entire SOA community with a school-wide celebration! We invite all students, staff, and faculty for this event, complete with food and refreshments. Also included will be a tabling fair showcasing both SOA resources and student organizations. Join us for a chance to meet your new classmates, current students, faculty, and staff throughout Goldsmith Hall.

Gone to Business

Description: We are excited to welcome the incoming Class of 2026 and External Transfer students at Gone to Business! Gone to Business will be held on Wednesday, August 24th from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Come meet representatives from McCombs Affiliated Student Organizations and learn about the many resources our school has to offer! Registration not required, but Student ID Card and/or EID is required at check-in. Visit our website for further details as the event nears!

Gone to Communication

Description: New Moody freshman and transfer students are invited to our annual CommUnity Welcome Event to meet your classmates, visit with Moody-specific student organizations, and enjoy light refreshments. Our goal is to offer an introduction to our Moody community before walking together to the Gone to Texas event.

Gone to Engineering

Description: Gone to Engineering begins with a welcome including food in each student’s department followed by a large student organization fair on the sidewalks within the engineering complex. We will have water and snacks available for students during the fair. It’s a great time for students to make connections to others in their department as well as to the 80+ student orgs they may want to consider joining.

Gone to Geosciences

Description: Welcome to the Jackson School of Geosciences family! New students will get the opportunity to enjoy delicious free food, and meet and mingle with other students, faculty, and staff before heading to Gone to Texas festivities right around the corner. RSVP Here:

Gone to Natural Sciences

Description: Enjoy food, giveaways and get to know your Texas Science community including student organization, departments and offices within the college. At 7:40 pm, Associate Dean Michael Drew will share remarks followed by the ritual college walk to the university main event.

Gone to Social Work

Description: Each August as fall classes begin, new students are invited to celebrate their fresh start at the Tower with live music and a broad spectrum of presentations from across the campus. Join us for this Texas-size welcome! Festivities begin with a Gone to Social Work reception at The School of Social Work. New students will get the opportunity to meet and mingle with other students, faculty, and staff. And, as you head out the door, let ‘em know you’ve… GONE TO TEXAS. RSVP here:
